Event Details

Join us to celebrate the earth and our beloved park and neighborhood on the Sunday before Earth Day. All are welcome to clean up the park, recycle unwanted items, and enjoy time with neighbors.

This new event will feature a park cleanup (along with volunteers from Friends of Gerstle Park). We’ll also be able to do some composting and planting in the park with plants thanks to the City of San Rafael and support from West End Nursery.

Neighbors can also reduce, reuse, and recycle by cleaning out unwanted toys, game, and books and bringing them to the park to swap with neighbors. Here are the details on the swap:

  • Help us reduce, reuse, and recycle!
  • Please bring new or lightly used toys, games, and books you are ready to pass along. Please only bring items in good (or better) condition, and make sure there are no broken items, missing pieces, etc.
  • Help yourself to the same number of toys, games, or books that were shared by others.
  • Leftover items will be donated to Homeward Bound of Marin, with children’s items going to their family shelter.
  • If you can’t make it but want to donate and can drop off that weekend, please email [email protected] to make arrangements.

Please bring your own water bottle and coffee cup.  If you have any of these items/tools, please also bring them:

  • Gloves
  • Trash pickers
  • Rakes
  • Clippers
  • Trowels for planting or weeding

Music will be provided by neighborhood musicians, including some Sun Valley Elementary students led by Youth in Arts.

We will have coffee and breakfast items, with thanks to Equator Coffee, donations from neighbors, and Golden Cream Donuts. Local Girl Scouts will be selling lemonade to benefit San Francisco Bay Keeper.

Sponsored by the Gerstle Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA) and Friends of Gerstle Park.
